Hi Everybody!

I'm so excited to be back here and sharing my most recent sewing project. It's been awhile since I've been creatively inspired and something about this year got me so excited to get into the Halloween spirit!

My daughter Annie is just like the millions of other kids out there obsessed with Elsa from Disney's Frozen. So rather than spend $30.00 on a costume from Wal-Mart, I decided to see what I could make with left over fabric that was lying around the house. I took my main inspiration from Elsa's blue dress, but changed some of the details to suit the materials that I had on hand.

This dress is made from cotton broadcloth and some powder blue chiffon. I used the circle skirt template from one of my previous tutorials for the skirt portion and drafted a really simple bodice shape. Since the silhouette was so simple I wanted to really wanted to amp up the details on this costume.  I used these clear beads that reminded me of ice crystals to the bodice. I also added some decorative stitches to the bottom and back of the bodice as well as the backing piece.

Annie absolutely loved it and couldn't decide whether she was Elsa or Cinderella in this dress! I'm so pleased with the end result and can't wait to make more costumes in the future.
Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a happy and safe Halloween!
